CA – Joshua Tree National Park, WOW Wildflowers Spring 2019

As I was preparing to exit the park to the south of Cottonwood Visitor Center, I was beyond excited to see my first mass display of wildflowers.

On my way back through about a week later I stopped again to see how the wildflower display had changed.

I used the overflow/dispersed camping option on the south end and climbed a little rise to watch the lupine glow as the sky changed color.

BLM has provided a great camping option with fairly private campsites. Although you can see the streaming vehicles on I-10, the sound was not noticeable perhaps due to the winds.

Adventure Date(s):

  • March 7 and 14, 2019

Tips(s):

  • If you’re heading south and need a shower, I found the travel center truck stops at the junction of I-10 and Hwy 86 were a great option. It’s also a good place to grab grub if you’re heading to the desert where fewer options exist.
